my girlie night!

So I decided to post again tonight because I have the time. The kids are sleeping and the house is clean. I went a little coukoo this afternoon dejunking. 6 bags of garbage later I'm feeling good, but nowhere near done.

We went down to Raymond for the Easter long weekend. Alli and James switched off and on being sick. James was a little whiney and slept a lot, and Alli cuddled and just wanted watch movies and went to sleep really early. They both are about to hack up and lung and are fighting fevers. Alli coughed so hard she puked, bleh.

Alli hardly even cared about her easter basket full of candy. She did show a slight increased in mood with the Shrek Kinder toys. Some of the cousins were around for an easter egg hunt on Sunday and Alli didn't care for that either. So I didn't take a single picture.

On the Friday night I went out with the girls. We had SUCH a fun time. We don't get together very often so we make the most of it when we do. As in stay out until 5 IN THE MORNING! I always lose complete track of time when we do that. All we did was go out for dinner. But we had a great pre and post party and Britt's house. I then came home to the sick kids and was up until 6:30, so I was happy nobody was up for much on Saturday.

Lily was the perfect baby tag along for her first girls night out!

Don't I have the prettiest friends?!

Here's James in the highchair yesterday. He loves the camera, such a poser for me. I tried to retouch his snotty nose away. NOt the greatest job, you can kinda tell. I'm so sick of wiping noses.

I have no easter pictures of the kids. They were sick bums all weekend. I do have a few of the girls from our crazy girls night (well, not that crazy, just out til 5 IN THE MORNING!) that I'll get to next post.

I forgot to post these pictures. This is what Alli insisted on wearing every time she went to practice with Derek or to a game. She called it her game shirt. It's really one of those full suit things that snaps at the bottom and it's James' size. Here she is a week or 2 ago before the last practice.

happy spring!

The season of spring is here. Who knows if it is really here to stay, but it has been pretty nice lately. We have been going for walks this week. I have nothing to say so here's a bunch of pictures instead.

Alli has this old old camera of mine that she "takes" pictures with.

Not quite dry enough to play at the park. Alli was so dissapointed she wasn't wearing her boots. Note the bag she is still bringing everywhere.

Look who else even made it out on this walk with us.

bath time!

I have been bathing these 2 together since James has been able to defend himself against Alli in the tub. They both love the bath and don't mind sharing. If you can even believe it, this is the first time I actually took pictures of them in the tub. And what a good night it was to take them. They were in the mood for posing!

And notice the thing hangin out of James' mouth in every picture? Every time he gets in the tub he puts one of those foam letters in his mouth and it stays in until his diaper is on.

We had a fun weekend in Calgary. Derek's team didn't do as good as they hoped (in other words, they didn't win) but it was still fun. I made it out to all of half of a game. (Which doesn't bother me because I don't watch much with 2 kids crawling all over me) The kids and I stayed at my friends nice new house. Speaking of nice, it was so nice of her to let my kids go crazy in her non kid proof house. I'm pretty sure Alli could have stayed in the basement the whole time and watched Finding Nemo on the 50" tv while playing with the mini fridge and movie popcorn maker. And James would have been perfectly happy if only I would have let him crawl head first down the stairs. Thanks Erin! It was also Erin and her twin sister Andrea's birthday on Saturday so a bunch of us went out to a fancy shmancy place for dinner. (BIG THANKS to Regan and Rhonda for babysitting!) Had so much fun and we all looked so cute and I didn't take a single picture all weekend. Now it's off to Raymond for Easter weekend on Thursday.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Derek's great Grandma Wilson was born in Ireland, so we totally celebrated the Irish today...

grandma's visit

i don't really feel like writing much, so i'll just overload with pictures. we had a fantastic time with grandma last week. alli was so great for the whole visit and her happiness has mostly carried over into this week. YAY! hopefully it lasts through a quick visit to calgary this weekend.

aunty brooke showing alli a thing or 2 about how to make pizza dough

alli had to bring a couple of bags everywhere we went and her scarf, and her mittens, and her money....

james says hi!

thanks granny we miss you already.

and of course happy birthday susie

sheesh, look at my photogenic sisters, then me...

one more thing. i just finished watching oprah's big give that i recorded on sunday. i feel like i just got off a roller coaster of emotion. i laughed, i cried, and i even did a little thinking. i missed the first episode but i will not be missing another! i know it's lame to rant about a tv show, but this is worth the rant. you must watch it! i feel as if i don't have a problem in the world compared. one of the "givers" said something to the effect of how addicting it is to give and how she can't believe she has wasted so much of her life thinking about herself. i'm all for you have to take care of yourself before you take care of anyone else, but i think i need to put myself in the position to help rather than waiting for people who need help to come knockin. because the ones who really need help aren't usually going around asking for it. so that's my thinking for today.

the waterpark!

james had so much fun at the waterpark. he loved the waves, and the cold water didn't seem to bother him.

sorry the pictures are a little dark and blurry. i think i had it on the wrong setting for half the day.

more pictures to come later...maybe...

nothing

Alli came across this and had to try it on. She couldn't keep it on for very long. It was about to make her fall over.

How can you not LOVE this face?!

Seriously, nothing is going on around here. So excited for my mom to come up and visit tomorrow. It's been the same old routine around here for the last little while and we are ready for something new. Alli is rather excited too. She talked on the phone the other day to my mom and all she remembers is when Grandma come we are making cookies!

This mom business. I have many insights into being a stay at home mom, or a mom at all really, but I won't get into that tonight because it's late. I'll try and keep the ramblings to a minimum. We'll talk about 2 year olds. Apparently 3 is the new 2. So what is going to happen when Alli is 3? Alli is about 2 and a half and has been rather exceptional in her behavior up to this point for the most part. But, recently some sort of monster takes over and she LOSES it for no reason.
I'm talking yelling, screaming, kicking, neighbor coming out of the apartment to see what sort of torture I am putting my child through tantrum as I am literally dragging her out the door. (true story) So I am not quite sure what to do with the beast.
Now it's not like she is a bear all day every day. It comes when it is time to leave the house most often. (unless we are going to blow bubbles outside or if we are going to watch basketball. Which reminds me of a picture I need to take of what she wears every time I say the word basketball) This sweet little girl who used to BEG to leave to house would rather watch movies and eat sugar all day. I am at a loss, hence the dragging out the door. This may last anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour. And for no reason at all she may at any point during the day decide that a tantrum is necessary. I have no idea what to do with her. (and I have decided to not stress about small amount of food she is eating these days)
Somebody give me hope that this is not what is in store for he next 16 years! And Rhonda, all I can say is I'm glad I'm not pregnant while going through this. Hey wait, maybe there was a good reason for James to make his early appearance. And sweet little James is just that. He is so special and I think I need to remember that more often, even at 3 am. We let him cry it out the last 4 nights with VERY disappointing results. The day time is when I get my happy James. These last few nights have taken away my smiley day James, and brought out the very worst of night James. So I think I'm quitting the cry it out for now. And I hate quitting.
I think we ALL are in desperate need for a visit from Grandma!

Here is the excitement these days.
